All About The Bud

 

Today we are going to talk about the design inspiration of one of our tailor made pieces - The Bud.

From the name of the piece you can quickly visualise the shape in your head. A bud is usually a description of a compact growth on a plant that develops into a leaf, flower, or shoot. It resembles lifes and hope.

We picked natural golden south sea pearls to be the main stone of the piece, it mirrors the concept of the bud, turning into something beautiful and completely unique. The prong we used to set the golden south sea pearl is not just any standard prong you can find elsewhere. Each prong is handmade and cut into the shape of a petal, and to harmonise the pearl together and increase the comfort for the wearer we have also added curves to each prong. The shape of the ring is also not a traditional perfect circle, it was inspired by the stem of a flower just as it grows on your finger and turns into a bud. From different angles of the ring you can also see the shape of the ring turn into the shape of a heart beat. To finish the ring we have decided to create a frosted effect to mimic the texture and the look of a natural flower stem, except our ring is perfectly smooth with visible texture. Lastly, we have added a brilliant white diamond at the other end of the ring, resembling the seed of the plant. Just like plants, diamonds have also spent many years under the ground until their beauty was discovered.
