All the gemstones of December carry a unique blue tone making it the perfect birthstone as a choice of gifts during this magical time of the year. It is always the right time to treat yourself and the loved ones :)
Blue Zircon has excellent brilliance, luster and fire. Its characteristics resemble diamond, therefore it is often used as a diamond alternative in the 19th century. Zircon’s purest form is colourless but it also comes in a wide range of colour: blue, green, yellow, red and orange. Among all the colours Zircon has to offer, Blue Zircon is the most popular colour with consumers trace back from the 1880s until nowadays.
Tanzanite may be a relative newcomer to the world of coloured stones, but it was the most exciting gem discoveries of the 20th century according to GIA. Tanzanite has been well-known for its richness and depth of colour that is often described as “velvety”, it ranges from a pure rich blue to violet, with the blue considered most valuable. In 1968, Tiffany & Co launched a major advertising campaign to promote tanzanite. With its vivid colours, high clarity and potential for large cut stone, tanzanite quickly became a sensation.
Turquoise has been adored by the royalties more than 3,000 years ago, it accounts for its opaque blue to green colours. Modern royals like Wallace Simpson, Duchess of Windsor also wore a famous amethyst and turquoise necklace made by Cartier. Some believe Turquoise can grant health, good fortune and protection from evil.
